In a category overflowing with sugary sameness, Afrohead set out to redefine what Caribbean rum could be. Founder and master blender Toby Tyler — known as the Rum Savant — saw an opportunity to bridge worlds: a rum inspired by the depth of whiskey and the sophistication of Cognac. Together with his partner Joe Farrell, he created a premium spirit that needed a brand and story worthy of its craftsmanship. The challenge: build an identity that celebrated Afrohead’s heritage, honored its artistry, and resonated with both rum traditionalists and whiskey aficionados alike.
OGK® partnered with Afrohead to translate its rich narrative into a visual and emotional experience. We developed a refined brand system — from bottle design and packaging architecture to storytelling, print collateral, and digital touchpoints. The iconic crown and headdress motif became central to the identity, symbolizing cultural pride and elevated craftsmanship. Our design philosophy was simple: striking, timeless, and universally appealing. The visuals were deliberately neutral yet luxurious, allowing Afrohead to connect seamlessly across demographics and global markets.
Afrohead emerged as a leader in the premium rum category — a spirit that challenges conventions and captivates whiskey drinkers worldwide. With growing distribution across North America and a loyal following in the Caribbean, the brand now stands poised for expansion, including high-profile collaborations and cultural partnerships. Afrohead didn’t just create another rum; it redefined how the world experiences it.
When heritage meets innovation, craftsmanship becomes culture — and Afrohead is pouring a new legacy.
